Zoya: Faye Inspiration

Inspiraationlähteet ovat olleet aika vähissä viime aikoina, mutta nähdessäni Zoyan Faye-sävyn kynsilläni, halusin tehdä vastaavan silmämeikin. Aamulla ei ollut aikaa kikkailla kauaa, mutta lopputulos oli enemmän kuin miellyttävä, joten saatte ison kasan kuvia. :)
I haven't been that inspired lately, but when I polished my nails with Zoya's Faye I wanted to copy the shades to my eye make up. I didn't have much time yesterday morning, but the result pleased me very much. So you'll get quite a few pics. :)

Kaikki luomivärit sulautuivat todella kauniisti yhteen ja mielestäni tämä väriyhdistelmä sopii väreihini mahtavasti. Harvemmin tulee enää tällaisin ahaa-elämyksiä. :) Vuosien aikana on tullut kokeiltua jos jonkinlaisia yhdistelmiä ja värejä. 

All eye shadows blended together amazingly well and I think this color combination suits me really well. It's quite rare for me to feel this way about eye make up. :) I've tried so many different combos and colors throughout the years.   

Illalla minulla oli vähän tylsää ja päätin tehdä aamuisen meikin päälle jotain tummaa. Ei mennyt ihan putkeen, mutta silti ihan kiva. Käytin lähinnä MACin 'My Dark Magic'-mineraaliluomiväriduoa (Venomous Villains-kokoeilmasta), Goshin 'Grey' eyelineria koko silmän ympäri ja Fyrinnaen 'Baby Belugaa' liikkuvalla luomella. :)

I was a bit bored last night and decided to darken up my make up. It didn't come out as nice as it could, but it's still ok. I mainly used MAC's 'My Dark Magic' mineralize eyeshadow duo (from Venomous Villains collection), Gosh eyeliner in 'Grey' and Fyrinnae's 'Baby Beluga' on the lid. :)

- Zoya: Faye. Ensimmäinen Zoya-lakkani. Erikoinen ja ihana lakka: vaalean purppuralla pohjalla kultaista/persikkaisia kimalletta. Neutraali, jossa on joku juju.
- Orlyn Cosmic FX-kokoelman Halley's Comet. Mieletön hohtava turkoosi.<3

I ordered 3 polishes. All have glass fleck finish. It's very shimmery, but not really glittery. Lately I've only bought polishes with this finish. It's really pretty and showy. :)
- OPI: 'The One That Got Away' from Katy Perry collection. Lovely, dark, berry red. 
-  Zoya: Faye. My first Zoya polish. Unusual and pretty color: golden/peachy flecks on a light purple base. Neutral color with a twist.
- Orly: Halley's Comet from Cosmic FX collection. Awesome, shining turquoise. <3

Toinen tilaus tuli iHerbiltä. Sieltäkin olen tilannut kerran aiemmin. Tuo nettikauppa on ihan valtava, joten kannattaa etsiä keskusteluja tuotteista ennen kuin lähtee selailemaan; helpottaa sopivien tuotteiden löytämistä. Tosin itsekin löysin tällä kertaa maitohappobakteerit ja piparminttukapselit puolivahingossa. Postikulut ovat todella edulliset, kunhan paketin paino ja arvo ei ylitä tiettyä rajaa: 1800g/$80. (Omalle paketilleni tuli postikuluja huimat $4 ja paketti saapui viikossa.)
My other order was from iHerb. This webstore is *huge*, so you may want to read some forums etc. about their products before exploring. It makes things so much easier. But I found the probiotics and peppermint oil soft gels by accident. International shipping is very affordable when your package value isn't more than $80 and weight must be under 1800g/4lbs. (I paid whopping $4 for shipping and the package arrived in a week.)

Ihanan tuoksuinen vartalovoide. Vaniljainen ja lämpimän mausteinen. Tältä Body Shopin Spicy Vanillan olisi pitänyt tuoksua.
Lovely smelling body lotion. Pleasant spicy vanilla. This is how Body Shop's Spicy Vanilla should have smelled like.
- Giovanni, Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Shampoo, 8.5 fl oz (250 ml)
Olen ehtinyt kokeilla kerran ja vaikuttaa hyvältä. Shampoossa on viilentävä vaikutus. Puhdisti hyvin, mutta ei kuivattanut.
I've only tried this once, but I like it. It has a cooling effect. Cleansed well, but didn't dry out my hair.

Tätäkin olen kokeillut nyt kerran ja tykkään tosi paljon. Teki hiuksista todella pehmeät parin minuutin vaikutusajalla. Tilaan varmasti uudestaankin.

Nämä kaksi tuotetta halusin kokeiluun oikuttelevan vatsan vuoksi. Nuo Ohhiran maitohappobakteerit maksavat järjettömän paljon (n.$50), mutta olen valmis maksamaan, jos ne tosiaan toimii. Piparminttukapselit ovat onneksi edullisia.
These 2 are meant to settle my upset stomach. Those Ohhira's probiotics are extremely expensive ($50), but if they really work I'll pay that. Peppermint soft gels were much more affordable.   

TV Geek, Part 1: Sherlock (2010 -)

Seuraan melko monia tv-sarjoja ja osasta niistä on tullut minulle todella tärkeitä. Ajattelin aina silloin tällöin tehdä postauksen yhdestä tällaisesta sarjasta. Toivottavasti näistä on joillekin lukioille iloa. :)

I follow quite a few TV shows and some of them have become very dear and important to me. I decided to do these posts every once in a while about them. I hope some of you will find these entertaining. :)

Sherlock & Dr. Watson (pic: The Book Doula) 

Ensimmäisenä vuorossa Sherlock Holmes, joka on kokenut kaksi suurempaa päivitystä näin 2000-luvulla. Ensin Guy Ritchie ohjasi vuonna 2009 toimintapainotteisen elokuvan, jonka pääosissa nähtiin Robert Downey Jr. ja Jude Law (jatko-osa on jo tuloillaan). 

Itse keskityn kuitenkin BBC:n vuonna 2010 tuottamaan 3-osaiseen minisarjaan, jonka nimi yksinkertaisesti on vain ’Sherlock’. Sherlock on siirretty äärimmäisen onnistuneesti nykypäivän Lontooseen. Olin skeptinen uuden konseptin suhteen, mutta yllätyin todella iloisesti, kun näin sarjan ensimmäisen kerran viime talvena netin välityksellä. Sherlock Holmesia näyttelee Benedict Cumberbatch ja John Watsonia Martin Freeman. (Hauska sattuma, että kummatkin näyttelijät ovat mukana Peter Jacksonin ’Hobitti’ –elokuvissa.) Sherlock on tässäkin versiossa hyvin omapäinen ja eksentrinen ja koska tupakointi on tehty nykypäivänä hyvin vaikeaksi, niin piipun sijasta Sherlock on siirtynyt käyttämään nikotiinilaastareita (paljon).

Juoneltaan jaksot seuraavat melko perinteisen etsiväsarjan kuvioita, mutta kuvaustekniikka, leikkaus, dialogi ja näyttelijät tekevät siitä hyvin omalaatuisen. Sarja on yllättävä, nokkela ja viihdyttävä. <3

Ainoa huono puoli sarjassa on se, että ensimmäinen tuotantokausi oli niin lyhyt. (3 x 1,5h jaksoa.) Onneksi seuraavan kauden pitäisi olla tulossa, koska 3. jakson loppuun jätettiin tietysti suuri cliffhanger.

Sen verran myöhässä olen tämän postaukseni kanssa, että eka kausi näytettiin juuri Yle1:llä nimellä ’Uusi Sherlock’. Löytynee vielä YleAreenalta. Katsokaa!

I wanted to start with Sherlock Holmes. He’s been a popular character lately. First Guy Ritchie directed an action filled movie in 2009, which starred Robert Downey Jr. & Jude Law (sequel is on its way). 

But I’ll focus on even newer production by BBC. 3-part mini series (made in 2010), which is named simply ‘Sherlock’. In this series the world of Sherlock Holmes has been transferred into modern London. Very nicely, I might add. I was quite skeptical about the concept, but I was very happily surprised when I saw the series earlier in the winter. Sherlock Holmes is played by Benedict Cumberbatch and John Watson by Martin Freeman (I don’t know if it’s a co-incidence, but both actors are part of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit movies). Sherlock is very beheaded and eccentric. And because smoking has been made almost impossible Sherlock uses (lots of) nicotine patches instead of smoking pipe.

Plot wise the episodes follow quite traditional detective shows, but the way it’s shot, cut, written and acted makes it truly unique. The show is unpredictable, witty and entertaining. <3

Only con I can think of is that the season was way too short (3 x 1,5hrs.). But I’ve read that second season is on its way. Yay for that ‘cause they left a huge cliffhanger at the end of the 3^rd episode. Find and watch this show! 

  

More Urban Decay Lipsticks: Jilted & Wanted

Tein vielä toisen tilauksen CheapSmellsiin ja tilasin pari Urban Decay:n huulipunaa lisää. Olen aivan ihastunut. Minua ei haittaa punien tuoksu enää ollenkaan ja ne tuntuvat huulilla todella miellyttävältä. Yleensä kaikki punat kuivattavat, mutta näiden kanssa ei ole sitä ongelmaa.
I just had to make another order to CheapSmells and get 2 more Urban Decay lipsticks. I really like them. I don't mind the smell and they feel really nice on the lips. Not drying at all. Usually every single lipstick makes my lips dry. 

Wanted oli hankala sävy saada kuvattua. se on jotain noiden kahden kuvan väliltä. Jilted taas on juuri tuollainen tumma, fuksianpinkki sinertävällä hohteella. Myös näiden kahden koostumus on ihan erilainen. Wanted on puolipeittävä, eikä siinä ole mitään hohdetta. Levittyy hieman epätasaisesti huulille, mutta se ei haittaa, koska se on läpikuultava sävy. Tästä on tulossa suosikki arkipunani. Todella nätti ja luonnollinen sävy.
Wanted was a bit tricky to photograph. I guess it's something between those two pictures. Jilted is how it looks like in the pics: dark, fuschia pink with bluish shimmer. These two are quite different with each other. Wanted is semi-opaque and has no glitter or shimmer. It goes a bit unevenly on the lips, but it's quite sheer so it doesn't show. It's quickly becoming my go-to lipstick. Really pretty and natural color.

Jilted taas on täysin peittävä ja todella pigmenttinen puna. Levittyy helposti ja pysyvyys tuntuu hyvältä. Mieletön väri! <3

Jilted is completely opaque and really pigmented. Still it feel very light on the lips. Love the color! <3

Purple Treats

Takana on kiireinen viikko, joten en ole ehtinyt päivittää aiemmin. Pävitettävää tosin olisi aika paljon.
Aloitetaan tämän viikon meikkien teemaväristä, eli violetista. En suunnitellut asiaa mitenkään etukäteen, mutta violetti on itselleni aina se turvallinen valinta. :) Kaikkia meikkejä en kuvannut, koska parina päivänä ne olivat lähes identtiset.
I've had a very busy week, so I haven't been able to post. Sorry. I have lots of things to update and I'll start with this week's make up theme: color purple. I didn't plan this ahead, but purples and violets are always a safe choice for me in eye make up. I didn't take pictures of all my looks 'cause couple of them were almost identical.

 Tämä viimeisin meikki on suosikkini. Poison Plum on aivan mahtavan värinen violetti. 

The last look is my favorite. Poison Plum is an awesome purple. 

Sitten loppukevennyksenä vielä loppuviikon ostoksia torilta. The British Fudge Companyn koju oli Turun torilla pari päivää ja kävin ostamassa herkkuja. Kovin ovat makeita, joten ehkä vähempikin olisi riittänyt. Olo oli kuin lapsella karkkikaupassa. ;)

And here's something I bought from the market place. The British Fudge Company was there selling their delicious looking treats. These are *really* sweet so maybe I could've bought little less. I sure felt like a kid in that famous candy store. ;)    

Morgana Cryptoria lipsticks - swatches

Tässä tulee lupailemani hieman syvempi arvio ja swatchit Morgana Cryptorian huulipunista. Punat ovat vegaanisia ja sävyvalikoima kattaa kaikki sateenkaaren värit (hinta on 12$/huulipuna). Olen lukenut paljon hyvää Morganan huulipunista eri blogeista ja aiemmin keväällä kaipasin turkoosia/vihreää huulipunaa klubimeikkiä varten. Tein tilauksen ja sain samalla tilattua myös sampleja muista väreistä. Nykyään sampleja ei enää saa, koska niiden myyminen ei nähtävästi ollut kannattavaa työmäärään nähden. Myös värivalikoima on kokenut pienen uudistuksen sitten oman maaliskuisen tilaukseni. Enemmän aiheesta löytyy hänen sivuiltaan.

Here's the review and swatches of Morgana Cryptoria lipsticks as promised. These are vegan and they come in all colours of the rainbow (price is 12$ per lipstick). I've read so much good about these lipsticks in different blogs and few months back I needed turquoise/green lipstick for a club make up. I ordered Enchanted Emerald + samples. Unfortunately the lipstick samples are not available anymore. I guess it took too much time and effort to make. Morgana has also taken some shades down. Here's more about that subject.

 

Enchanted Emerald. (Pahoittelut melko kamalasta huulikuvasta. Ehdottomasti hankalin asia kuvata omasta naamasta on nimen omaan huulet. Väri näyttää luonnossa paljon tasaisemmalta. En tiedä, johtuuko tuo epätasaisuus vain salamasta. / Sorry about the quite awful lip swatch. I find it really hard to take decent pictures of my lips. The lipstick is much more even in reality. I have no idea if the flash makes it look like that.)

Absinthe

Swatchit kaikista sävyistä (yläkuvassa salaman kanssa). Näistä Turquoise, Enchanted Sapphire ja Otherwordly on lopetettu./ Swatches of all shades (upper picture taken with flash). Turquoise, Enchanted Sapphire and Otherwordly have been discontinued. 

Pidän aika paljon Morganan huulipunista. Niissä on hyvä ja kestävä koostumus (ainoastaan Enchanted Sapphire on melko huonosti levittyvä, mutta nyt sävy on lopetettu.) Näistä kuvista puuttuu Gilded Cerise, josta postasin kuvat jo aiemmin. Sen aion ostaa oikeankokoisena. Myös Absinthe kiinnostaisi, mutta minulla on jo tuo Emerald. Harmi, että Turquoise ei ole enää valikoimissa, koska se on aivan ihana väri. 

I like Morgana's lipsticks quite a lot. They're easy to apply and they are long lasting (Enchanted Sapphire is quite hard to work with, but it's discontinued). These pictures are missing Gilded Cerise, which I posted about earlier. It's a lovely shade which I will buy full size one day. I'm also interested in Absinthe, but I think Emerald is close enough. Too bad Turquoise disappeared too 'cause that is just a lovely shade.  

Golden Age

Juuri, kun pääsin sanomaan, että ei ole tapahtumia, joihin saa meikata kunnolla, niin eilen olimme Helsingissä katsomassa yhtyettä nimeltä IAMX. Mielessäni oli aluksi jotain vieläkin teatraalisempaa, koska bändin imago ja lavaolemus on hyvin näyttävää, omalaatuista ja dramaattista. Mutta tällä hetkellä piinaava helle muutti suunnitelmia hieman kevyempään suuntaa.
Minulla on nyt joku kultainen kausi ja halusin jälleen käyttää meikissä Goldiluxia.

Just as I said that there aren't enough happenings where I can wear more dramatic make up we went to IAMX gig last night in Helsinki. The band's image and stage presence is quite theatrical and eccentric so I wanted to do something dramatic. First I thought about doing something even more showy, but we're having a heat wave so I went for something bit simpler. 
I'm having a golden era or something so I used Goldilux once again. :)

Lisäsin vielä mustan sisärajauksen tuomaan intensiivisyyttä. 

I added the black inliner to make the look more intensive. 

Toivottavasti ei tullut liikaa kuvamateriaalia. Kerrankin sain otettua tarpeeksi yksityiskohtaisia kuvia, joissa värit toistuvat melko oikeanlaisina. Meikki pysyi hyvänä melkein 10h, vaikka lämpötila keikalla oli varmasti +30C (ellei ylikin). Ja itse keikka oli aivan mieletön. Harvoin näkee näin omistautunutta bändiä lavalla. <3

I hope there's not too many pictures. For once I was happy with the pics I took: the colours look right and they're detailed enough. My make up stayed put, although there had to be at least +30 Celsius (or even more) in the concert. And the gig itself was just amazing. This band is really dedicated and it shows. <3
