My Eyeshadow Collection

Päätin vihdoin rohkaistua ja laittaa kuvat luomivärikokoelmastani. Onhan näitä kertynyt...
I finally decided to post pictures of my eye shadow collection. And there are a few...

Aloitan isommista paleteista. Suurin näistä on 'Manly 120 Eyeshadow Palette' (ja ei, en tiedä, miksi se on tuon niminen). ;) En koe tarvitsevani muita tällaisia suuria paletteja, koska niitä ei voi oikein kuljettaa mukanaan koon vuoksi. Tässä paletissa on aivan mielettömän upeita ja hyviä sävyjä ja muutama susikin, mutta 13 euron hintaan todella hyvä paletti (ostettu Ebaystä). Sitten kuvassa on Sugarpill:in Burning Heart -paletti (täällä lisää tästä paletista) ja Urban Decay:n Ammo -paletti.
I'll start with the bigger ones. Biggest I've got is 'Manly 120 Eyeshadow Palette' (and no, I don't have any idea why it's named like that). I don't think I'll get more of these huge palettes (like Coastal Scents ones), because they are too big to take with me when traveling (for example). This palette has some amazing shades, but there are couple of duds too. But compared to its price (13€), it's wonderful. Then there are Sugarpill's Burning Heart palette (here's more about Sugarpill) and Urban Decay's Ammo palette. 

Sitten kokoelma sekalaisia pienempiä paletteja. Osa on jo 10 vuotta vanhoja (kuten nuo Isadoran nelikot tuossa oikealla). Näitä tulee käytettyä nykyääm melko harvoin. Suosikki on ylärivin Wet 'n Wild:in violetti Lust -paletti. Ja sen vieressä on ainoa NARS meikkini: Rajasthan luomiväri-duo viime syksyn kokoelmasta.
Miscellaneous smaller eyeshadow palettes. Part of these are already 10 years old (like the Isadora quads on the right side). I don't use these that much anymore. My favorite is Wet'n Wild's purple Lust palette. Next to it is my only NARS product: Rajasthan duo from last fall.

And then, of course, my beloved Inglot Freedom palettes. <3 More about them in here, here and here.

Sitten ovat vuorossa yksittäiset napit. Näitä oli vähemmän kuin muistinkaan. ;) Vähiten olen käyttänyt alarivin NYXin värejä. Niissä ei ollutkaan pigmenttiä niin paljon kuin oli hehkutettu (onneksi en ehtinyt hamstraamaan enempää). Tässä on myös ainoat MAC-luomivärini: ylärivissä Humid ja vasemmassa alakulmassa Mineralize-luomarit: My Dark Magic (Venomous Villains-kokoelmasta) ja Young Punk (Style Black -kokoelmasta). Jostain syystä MACin luomivärit eivät toimi minulla (eli eivät pysy luomilla, vaikka mitä tekisi). Tosi outoa, mutta säästämpähän edes jossain. :)
Then the solo shadows. There aren't as many as I remembered. ;) I've used NYX shadows the less. Many people have hyped about these shadows, but I don't find them that pigmented (I'm glad I didn't get more). And here are my only MAC shadows: in top row Humid and bottom left corner: Mineralize shadows My Dark Magic (from Venomous Villains) and Young Punk (from Style Black).

Let's continue with MAC. Here're my pigment samples. I'm quite surprised I have this many.

Viimeisenä Fyrinnae samplet. Yritän saada tehtyä swatchit näistä mineraaliluomiväreistä joku päivä. Osa väreistä on aivan upeita ja minulla on tarkoituksena tilata vielä muutamia sampleja lisää... ;)
And last but not least Fyrinnae samples. I'll try to swatch these mineral eye shadows one day. Some of these colors are absolutely amazing and I want to order a couple more samples soon. ;)

Siinäpä ne. =) Uusia luomivärejä ei tule ostettua kovin heppoisin perustein enää, mutta Urban Decayn 15th Anniversary paletti on niin houkuttelen kaunis, että sen saan itsellesni hankkia, jos sen jostain löydän.  
There you go. =) If I buy new eye shadows, there has to be something special about them. Like Urban Decay's 15th Anniversary palette. It's just gorgeous and I will buy it if I can get my hands on it.  

Gothic Image

Tässä on kuva toukokuussa olleista kuvauksista. Kuvia otettiin toki enemmänkin, mutta en ole saanut vielä muita itselleni. Tunnelmasta tuli tosi kiva ja mustavalkoisuus käy tähän kuvaan todella hyvin.
Here's one picture from a photoshoot which was in May. There'll be more pictures when I get them. I really like the atmosphere and black & white colors work really well here.

Meikki ei tässä kuvassa juuri erotu. Olen oppinut tässä vuosien varrella, että minun kasvoilleni saa lykkiä väriä harjan kanssa ennen kuin se oikeasti näkyy kuvissa. Kuvassa on mukana on kihlattuni. Meikkasin myös hänet, mutta tässä kuvassa se ei näy. Toivottavasti saan parempia lähikuvia pelkästään hänestä. Minun vaatteeni ovat paitaa lukuunottamatta omaa käsialaa.
My make up doesn't really show in this picture, but I've learned that you need to put the make up with a broom if you want it show on my face. ;) That's my fiancé in the back round. I also did his make up and I hope I'll get better pictures of him alone. My clothes are made by me, except the shirt.

Minusta on otettu kuvia myös aiemmin ja ajattelin tehdä niistä oman postauksen, jos teitä kiinnostaa. Minusta nyt ei saa mallia tekemälläkään (pituutta saisi ainakin olla 15cm enemmän), mutta onneksi se ei näissä kuvissa ole ollut este.
I've had my photos taken before and I was thinking about making a post about them if you're interested. I'm no model (I should be at least 15cm/5inches taller), but I'm glad it hasn't bothered in these shoots.

Fyrinnae: Equality

Välillä haluan tehdä neutraaleja meikkejä, mutta niissä saa silti olla joku juju. Fyrinnaen 'Equality' on vaalea, viileänruskea luomiväri (tai ehkä taupe), joka kimaltelee kaikissa sateenkaaren väreissä. Aivan ihana. Kävi siis erinomaisesti tähän meikkiin.
I like to do neutral looks every now and then, but I still like to makes things more interesting. Fyrinnae's 'Equality' is light, cool toned brown (or possibly taupe) with intense, multicolored glitter. Beautiful. It worked perfectly in this make up.

Käytin huulilla MACin glitteristä Dazzle huulipunaa sävyssä 'Hellraiser'. (Myönnettäköön, että halusin sen alunperin lähinnä nimen vuoksi, mutta se on myös ihan mahtavan värinen.)

I used MAC's glittery Dazzle Lipstick in 'Hellraiser'. (I have to admit, I first wanted it only for its name, but it turned out to be really pretty.)

And here's the whole face. Looks quite neutral from a distance. 

Olen hieman huolestunut Fyrinnaen tilanteesta, koska olen lukenut, että firma saattaisi sulkea ovensa kokonaan. :( Tällä hetkellä sivut ovat kiinni, joten toivon, että tämä ei ole vielä lopullista. Fyrinnaella on vielä monia sävyjä, joita haluan kokeilla aivan ehdottomasti.

I'm a bit worried about Fyrinnae, because I read that it might be closing its doors. :( The shop is closed at the moment, but I do hope it's not permanent. There're still lots of shades I really want to try. 

Colorful Make Up Inspiration from Paul Mitchell Ads

Satuin huomaamaan Stockalla käydessäni Paul Mitchellin hiustenhoitopakettien kyljessä kivan näköisiä meikkejä. Minun pitäisi etsiä aktiivisemmin uusia inspiraatioita, koska aamuisin niitä ei ihan itsellään tule. Nämä eivät onnistuneet ihan niin hyvin kuin toivoin, mutta näitä oli sentään kiva tehdä. :)
I happened to notice some new hair product packaging by Paul Mitchell and I liked the make up on them. I should be looking for inspiration more actively 'cause in the mornings it's the last thing on my mind. These didn't turn out that well, but they were fun to do. :)

Ensiksi puna-keltainen meikki. Tein nämä jo jonkin aikaa sitten, joten en muista enää tarkkoja sävyjä.
First red-yellow make up. I've already done these a while ago, so I don't remember all the shades I used.

MAC: Cornflower

Minulla on ollut sample MACin Cornflower-pigmentistä jo jonkin aikaa, mutta kesällä se tuntui liian viileäsävyiseltä. Tänään on ollut todella sateista, joten sinivioletti tuntui hyvältä valinnalta. Cornflower on melko metallinen, keskivaalea sininen, jossa on aavistus vaaleanpunaista/violettia hohdetta. Todella kaunis! Haluan kokeilla tätä mustan pohjan päällä, lopputulos on varmaankin enemmän violetti kuin sininen.
I've had a sample of MAC's Cornflower pigment for a while, but it's been too cool toned for summer. Today has been a really rainy so the blue/purple pigment felt like right choice. Cornflower is a bit metallic, medium blue with subtle pink/purple duochrome. Really pretty! I want to try this over a dark base soon.

- eye shadows: MAC Cornflower pigment, Inglot: M351 (light ivory), M321 (dark blue), M332 (medium blue)

- eye liner: Gosh 004 Grey, Isadora Inliner Kajal, Blonde

This shade makes my eyes look really green.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream #13 & #21

Nyt ehdin vihdoinkin kirjoittamaan uusista ihastuksistani, eli Missha:n BB Creameistä (lyhenne tulee Beauty tai Blemish Balmista). Luin arvostelun Lipglossiping blogista tästä nimenomaisesta tuotteesta ja uskaltauduin tilaamaan (hänen ihon sävynsä on melko samanlainen kuin minulla). Myös .Nekun. kirjoittama postaus innoitti suuresti. Olen lukenut melko paljon BB Creameistä, mutta arvostelut ovat olleet aasialaisista blogeista ja heidän ihon sävynsä taas on yleensä aivan erilainen. En ole niiden perusteella uskaltanut lähteä kokeilemaan.
Now I finally have a moment to write about my new found (almost)HG: Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream (BB Cream comes from Beauty or Blemish Balm). I read a review from Lipglossiping about this product and finally ordered one for myself (she has quite similar skintone). I've read about BB creams mainly from Asian blogs and their skin tone is usually quite different from mine, so I didn't want to buy anything blind.

Tilasin Ebaystä kaksi eri sävyä: #21 Light Beige ja #13 Milky Beige. En edelleenkään tiedä, onko ihoni puna- vai keltapohjainen, vai enemmän neutraali. Mutta tuo #21 käy itselleni parhaiten. Milky Beige oli jopa liian vaalea.
I ordered 2 different shades from Ebay: #21 Light Beige and #13 Milky Beige. I'm still not completely sure if my skin is warm or cool toned, or more neutral, but #21 seems to fit my skin quite nicely. Milky Beige is almost too pale. 

#21 looks quite dark, but when applied it's better for my skin tone.

Tuote sisältää silikoneja ja mineraaliöljyä, mutta oma ihoni ei ole mennyt tukkoon tai muutenkaan huonontunut. Olen huomannut, että itselläni Perfect Cover toimii parhaiten ihan puhtaalle iholle levitettynä. Eli vain kasvojen pesu ja kasvovesi ja silmänympärysvoide. Levitän tuotteen sormin iholle (tätä en ole tehnyt varmaan 10 vuoteen). Ei tämä mikään ihmetuote ole, mutta itse tykkään kovasti. Sanoisin, että tämä on puolipeittävä, eli ei peitä pahimpia näppyjä. Koostumus on aika paksua, mutta se levittyy suht helposti. Viimeistelen aina irtopuuterilla ja omalla rasvaisella ihollani tämä pysyy nättinä koko päivän.
This product has silicones and mineral oil, but surprisingly my skin hasn't got all clogged. For me this works best if I apply it on clean skin (after cleansing and toning). I use my fingers to spread it (haven't done that in 10 years, at least). I wouldn't say this is a miracle product, but I like this so much. It has medium coverage, so it won't cover the all the red spots. It's quite thick, but applies pretty easily. I always use loose powder for setting and on my oily skin this stays nicely the whole day. 

Ja nyt jotain melko kammottavaa, eli minun naamani huonossa kunnossa. Ensimmäinen kuva minusta netissä ilman meikkiä. ;)
And now something quite horryfying: me without make up (and my skin got suddenly quite bad). ;) 

Before: Natural light was kind to my skin; my whole jaw and cheeks were aching because of all the blemishes.

After: Perfect Cover #21 + some powder and blush and bit of eye shadow. So much better and natural looking.

Here's also #21 with e.l.f. HD Powder. I'd say this stuff has quite nice coverage. (More about this look later.)

Haluan vielä kokeilla muitakin BB Creamejä. Olen todella iloinen, että Missha tarjoaa tuotteita myös matkakokoisina, 20ml (täysikokoiset ovat 50ml). Onko täällä muita BB Creameistä kiinnostuneita?
I want to try other BB creams too. I'm really glad that Missha has travel sized versions available (20ml), the full size is 50ml. Have any of you tried BB Creams yet?

Siveltimiä en ole vielä päässyt kokeilemaan, koska ne piti tietysti pestä ensin. Mutta ne tuntuvat niin pehmoisilta. Elf:iltä minulla on ennestään poskipunasivellin, joita olisin tilannut toisenkin, jos ne eivät olisi olleet loppu. Myös Eco Tools:ilta minulla on ennestään siveltimiä, joista pidän todella paljon. Tätä kabukia on kehuttu paljon, joten pistin sen mukaan tilaukseen (hintaa tuolla oli vain $7.50). Eco Toolsin siveltimiä myy Suomessa ainakin Ruohonjuuri ja Hesan Stockmann. 

I haven't tried the brushes yet 'cause I had to wash them first, of course. But they do feel so soft. I already have Blush Brush by e.l.f. and I would've bought another, but they were sold out. I also have brushes from Eco Tools and I love them. I've read so many good things about this kabuki, so I decided to buy it 'cause I don't own proper kabuki (and it cost only $7.50).

My eye make up is pretty much the same as HERE.  

Ehdin siis kokeilemaan jo tuota HD puuteria ja Cool Bronzeria. Ja tykkään kummastakin. HD puuteri on todella hienojakoista (melko pöllyävää tavaraa), mutta se näyttää ainakin kuvassa tasoittavan ihon pintaa ja pitää ihon kivasti kiillottomana. Myös aurinkopuuteri tuntuu hyvältä ostokselta. Kevyesti laitettuna sitä voi käyttää varjostuksiin. Varsinaista aurinkopuuteria en osaa oikein käyttää ja kalpeuteen tottuneena vierastan "tervettä hehkua/väriä" kasvoilla. ;)

I tried the HD Powder and Cool Bronzer this morning and I like them both. HD powder is very finely milled, so it's quite dusty. But it seems to even out my skin (at least in the photo) and it keeps my skin shine-free. I'm also liking the bronzer. I've never really used bronzer as it should be used, so I mainly use it for contouring. I've always been pale so 'the healthy glow/color' is quite strange to me. ;)

My Make Up Bag and Other Stuff

Tästä aiheesta olen ajatellut kirjoittaa jo aiemmin, eli mitä meikkejä otan mukaani reissuun. Nyt olin viikon verran vanhempieni luona, jossa harvemmin tulee meikattua (ainoastaan, jos lähtee vähän kauemmaksi). Siihen nähden meikkejä olisi voinut olla vähemmänkin.
I've meant to write about which make up I take with me when I travel. I was visiting my parents last week and I usually don't wear much make up unless I go somewhere. I probably wouldn't have needed this much stuff with me, but I always want to be prepared. :)

Rasvoittuvan ja epäpuhtaan ihon hoito, osa 3 - Skin Care: Oily & Blemished Skin, part 3

Tässä osassa käsittelen kuorintoja ja naamioita. (Tästä tulee pitkä tarina.)
This part is about exfoliators and masks. (This is going to be a long post.)

Vaikka rasvoittuvalle ja epäpuhtaalle iholle suositellaan yleensä usein tehtäviä kuorintoja, en itse ole lähtenyt tälle linjalle. Ihoni on melko paksu, mutta minusta tuntuu silti, että kuorinta 2krt./viikko on ihan liikaa. Tuntuu, että iho muuttuu paljon nopeammin epätasaiseksi ja epäpuhtaaksi. Kuorin ihoani siis n.3-4 kertaa kuussa.
Käytän tällä hetkellä kahta eri kuorintaa vuorotellen:
- MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator (oli osa 'Style Black'-kokoelmaa) on perinteinen, rakeinen kuorinta. Rakeet ovat aika suuria, joten yritän olle melko varovainen tämän kanssa. Ei mielestäni juuri eroa muista vastaavista tuotteista.
- Toinen kuorinta sisältää 2 eri osaa: Aspiriinin ja entsyyminaamion (tässä tapauksessa Freemanin Pineapple Facial Enzyme Mask). Iho on kuorinnan jälkeen todella pehmeä ja tasainen.
Aspiriinikuorinta toimii seuraavanlaisesti (ohjeet lainattu Nekulta):
1. Aspiriinitabletin päälle tiputetaan muutama tippa vettä, jolloin tabletti pehmenee tahnaksi.
2. Tablettitahnaa pyöritellään kasvoille vähän aikaa (10-15 sekuntia).
3. Kämmenelle puristetaan pieni nokare ananasnaamiota (toki jokin muukin vastaava entsyyminaamio kelpaa), joka pyöritellään kasvoille aspiriinin tavoin.
4. Huuhdellaan pois.

Although frequent exfoliating is recommended for oily/blemished skin, my skin doesn't agree. I've felt that my skin gets uneven/clogged very fast if I exfoliate it too often (for example twice a week). About 3-4 times a month is ok for me.
I'm using 2 different kind of scrubs at the moment:
- MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator (was a part of Style Black collection in 2009). This is a traditional exfoliator with small grainy bits. Sometimes it feels too harsh om my skin, so I try to be careful. This is a limited edition, but in my opinion it doesn't differ from other similar products. 
 - The other one includes two parts (it's more of a do-it-yourself exfoliator): aspirin and enzyme mask (I'm using Freeman Pineapple Enzyme Mask). This one leaves my skin really soft.
This is how it works:
1. Add few drops of water to aspirin pill to make it paste-like (it will be a bit grainy).
2. Use the aspirin paste like normal scrub in circular motions on your face (about 10-15 seconds).
3. Then add a small amount of enzyme mask all over your face and mix it with the aspirin paste.

My Beauty Diary Mask: Bulgarian White Rose

Minun pitäisi muistaa käyttää naamioita useammin, mutta iltaisin olo on yleensä niin laiska, että vain jaksa. Siksi olen ihastunut näihin My Beauty Diary -kangasnaamioihin, jotka eivät sotke ja tuntuvat iholla todella ihanalta. Ne ovat siis yksittäispakattuja, kasvojenmuotoisia kangasnaamioita. Se vain laitetaan kasvoille ja annetaan olla 20-30 min. (En pysty ikinä katsomaan peiliin nuo naamassa, koska mieleeni tulee vain Hannibal Lecter ja alkaa naurattaa.)
Tällä hetkellä minulla on käytössäni Yogurt ja Bulgarian White Rose naamiot. Jugurttinaamion sanotaan sopivan erityisesti rasvoittuvalle iholle, se kosteuttaa ja hillitsee rasvoittumista. Ruusunaamio taas sopii kaikille ihotyypeille ja sen sanotaan kosteuttavan ja tasoittavan ihon väriä. Kummatkin näistä kosteuttavat todella ihanasti ja raikastavat ihoa. Tulen hankkimaan näitä lisää, kun nämä loppuvat. Alunperin taisin lukea näistä naamioista Charming Nails -blogista ja innostuin suuresti.
I should be using masks more often, but I'm quite lazy (especially in the evenings). That's why I adore My Beauty Diary Masks. They don't make a mess and are easy to use. You simply take the fabric mask and put it on your face and leave it there for 20-30 minutes. (I can never look at myself at the mirror when wearing the mask 'cause it makes me think of Hannibal Lecter and I start to laugh.)
At the moment I have Yogurt and Bulgarian White Rose Masks. Yogurt mask is for normal to oily skin. It's said to be hydrating and helping with oil control. Rose mask is for all skin types (especially dull) and it hydrates and whitens. On my skin these both feel very hydrating and refreshing. I will be getting more when I run out. I read about these from Charming Nails blog some time ago and wanted to try them so badly. :)

Näiden lisäksi minulla tulee todella harvoin käytettyä syväpuhdistavia naamioita. Tunnen, että hyvä pävittäinen puhdistus ja kosteutus riittävät pitämään oman ihoni niin hyvänä kuin se vain voi olla. Silloin tällöin käytän ensimmäisellä kuvassa näkyvää Chocolate Mud Maskia, joka sisältää mm. kaakao- ja sheavoita. Tämä puhdistaa, mutta ei kuivata, vaikka onkin savinaamio. Tuoksuu todellakin suklaiselle. En tiedä, onko tuolla naamiolla varsinaisesti merkkiä, mutta sitä myydään Kicks-myymälöissä.
I don't use deep cleansing masks very often. I feel that good daily cleansing and moisturizing keep my skin as clear as it can be. But every once in while I use the Chocolate Mud Mask which is in the first picture. It's got for example cocoa and shea butter in it. It cleanses without drying, although it is clay based. And the scent is almost like real chocolate. This mask doesn't really have a brand, I think. It can be bought from Kicks stores in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

TV Geek, Part 2 - OZ - Kylmä Rinki (1997-2003)

Toinen osa TV Geek postauksistani on niin kaukana kaikesta tyttömäisestä ja hömpästä kuin vain pystyy. OZ - Kylmä Rinki on HBO:n tuottama todella karu, väkivaltainen, upeasti kirjoitettu ja näytelty vankilaan sijoittuva TV-sarja. Lähtökohta ei kuulosta mitenkään lupaavalta, mutta kyseessä on mielestäni yksi kaikkien aikojen parhaista sarjoista. Sitä ei ole helppo katsoa, eikä se ole tarkoituskaan. Se haastaa katsojan miettimään omia moraalikäsityksiä. Ja syy, miksi kirjoitan tästä nyt, on myös se, että Nelonen aloittaa näyttämään sarjan alusta 5.8. klo 23.50. Katsokaa! (Tosin en silti suosittele ihan herkimmille.)

This second part of my TV Geek posts is as far away from all things girly as can be. 'OZ' is HBO's rough and brutal prison TV show, which is amazingly well written and played. This still doesn't sound too convincing, but OZ is one of the best TV shows ever made, in my opinion. It can be very hard to watch and that's the point. This show challenges the viewer to make their own decisions and choose their own morale. Watch this! (Although, be cautious if you're sensitive.)

Tästä sarjasta on todella vaikea kirjoittaa, koska joka jaksossa on oma juonikuvionsa ja osa juonista jatkuu läpi koko sarjan. Kuuden kauden aikana sarja tutustuttaa katsojan liutaan kaikista vaarallisimpia vankeja, jotka ovat joutuneet Oswald State Maximum Security -vankilaan (lyhennettynä siis OZ)  mitä erilaisemmista rikoksista. Jokaisella on oma osansa ja monen elämä päättyy hyvinkin lyhyeen ennen loppua. Vankien ja muiden hahmojen kirjo on niin valtava, että niistä en sen enempää kirjoita. Heistä kaikki ovat ristiriitaisia ja monitahoisia, kuten oikeassakin elämässä. Joidenkin kohtalot kiinnostavat eniten ja sitä päätyy tuntemaan sympatiaa hahmoja kohtaan, vaikka heidän tekemänsä rikokset olisivatkin pahoja. Ja onhan tässä sarjassa myös silmäkarkkia katsojille; en nimittäin ole missään muussa sarjassa nähnyt yhtä paljon alastoman miesvartalon kuvausta. ;) Mutta vakavasti puhuen mikään muu sarja ei ole herättänyt niin vahvoja tunnekuohuja puoleen ja toiseen. Tämä sarja jää mieleen kummittelemaan.

It's really hard to write about this show, because every episode has it's own plot and plots carry through the whole show. During the 6 seasons we get to know a lot of most dangerous prisoners who are brought to Oswald State Maximum Security Prison (OZ for short) for various crimes. They all have their part to play and many lives are lost before the end. There are too many prisoners and other characters to write about  here. All of them are complex, like in real life. You will end up liking and feeling sympathy for some of the characters more than others (no matter what their crimes are). But there's also eye candy for the viewers; I've never seen that much male nudity in any other show so far. ;) But seriously speaking no other show has made such a lasting impression on me. I've went through series of emotions in such short time. This one will stay with you.
