Fyrinnae continues: Omgwft, Dressed To Kill & Digital Faerie

Olen kärsinyt migreenistä ja muusta epämääräisestä, joten en ole pystynyt päivittämään blogia. Nyt sain vihdoin käsiteltyä lisää kuvia Fyrinnae-meikeistä. Tällä kertaa vuorossa on vihreää ja turkoosia.
I've been suffering from annoying migraine so I haven't been updating my blog lately. But now, finally, more pictures of Fyrinnae eye shadows in action. I give you: green and turquoise.

1. Omgwtf

Aivan mahtava kirkas limenvihreä. Näyttää purkissa melko samalta kuin 'We're All Mad Here', mutta tämä on kirkkaampi luomille laitettuna. 

Amazingly bright lime green (or chartreuse?). It looks quite same as 'We're All Mad Here' in the jar, but on the lids it's much brighter.

2. Dressed To Kill

Aivan ihana vihreä. Sopii silmieni väriin käsittämättömän hyvin. Lopputulos näyttää pehmeältä sammaleelta. Jo swatchatessa ihastuin tähän, mutta käytössä vielä nätimpi. 

Absolutely gorgeous green. Goes amazingly well with my eye color. It looks like moss. I fell in love with this when swatching, but it's even prettier when used.

3. Digital Faerie

Rakastan tämän sävyisiä kirkkaita turkooseja, jotka heijastavat sekä sinistä että vihreää. Nimikin on aivan ihastuttava. 

I love these bright blue-green turquoises and the name is so cute.

Kaikki värit olivat pigmenttisiä ja helppoja työstää Pixie Epoxyn kanssa. Todella kauniita sävyä, joita tulee varmasti käytettyä usein. 

All shadows were pigmented and easy to work with Pixie Epoxy. Truly beautiful shades. 

Fyrinnae Looks: Wake Not The Dead, Calavera Cupcakes & Rapunzel Had Extensions

Olen ollut aivan ihastuksissani viimesimpään Fyrinnae-tilaukseen. Tässä kolme eri meikkiä, joissa on käytetty tilaamiani luomivärejä.
I've been loving my latest Fyrinnae order. Here're 3 different looks using my new eye shadows.

Kuvissa 'Wake Not The Dead' näyttää paljon latteammalta kuin luonnossa. Ensimmäisen ajatus, kun levitin väriä luomilleni oli 'My Little Pony'. :) WNTD on vaaleahko violetti, jossa on moniväristä glitteriä. Todella kiva, vaikka levittäessä glitteriä tahtoo leijailla joka puolelle.

In the photos 'Wake Not The Dead' looks a bit flat. It's more vibrant in reality. My first thought about this shadow was: 'this looks like My Little Pony in a jar'. ;) WNTD is medium/light purple with multicolor glitter. It's really lovely shadow, although the glitter ended up all over my face when applied.

'Calavera Cupcakes' tuli ilmaissamplena tilauksen mukana ja olen erittäin iloinen tästä, koska kyseessä on todella kaunis luomiväri. Näissä kuvissa se näyttää pelkästään hopeiselta, mutta mukana on myös vaaleanpunaista, joka tekee tästä väristä paljon persoonallisemman. En ole pitkään aikaan käyttänyt näin kylmäsävyistä meikkiä, mutta ehkä näin talvea vasten tulee siirryttyä taas viileämpiin väreihin.

'Calavera Cupcakes' was a free sample and I'm so glad I got this one, because it's really beautiful. It looks mainly silver, but there's also a little bit of pink in there and it makes the color stand out. I haven't used this cold colors in eye make up in a while. It felt a bit strange. But I guess I'll use them more now that the winter is coming.

'Rapunzel' on ehdottomasti joukon yllättäjä. Olen aina vierastanut persikkaisia sävyä ja tällaisia luomivärejä, jotka eivät ole tummia eivätkä vaaleita. Olen kokenut niiden käytön vähän hankalaksi. Mutta olen viime aikoina tykännyt tehdä tämän tyylisiä meikkejä, joissa liikkuvalla luomella on jotain yhtä väriä ja siihen tarkoitukseen tämä toimi todella hyvin. 'Rapunzel' on koostumukseltaan pigmenttinen ja levittyi todella kauniisti, vaikka alla ei ollut Pixie Epoxya.

'Rapunzel' totally won me over. I've never cared for peachy tones and this kind of eye shadows that are not light or dark have always felt a bit difficult to use. But lately I've liked the kind of eye make up where you put one color (usually contrast color) on the whole lid and this shade works like charm. Rapunzel is pigmented and applied really easily on the lid, although I didn't use Pixie Epoxy.   

Purgatory

'Purgatory' on aivan ihana!! Se näyttää aivan sametilta. Se on rusehtavampi luomille levitettynä kuin purkissa, mutta aivan valtavan kaunis siitä huolimatta.
I love 'Purgatory'!! It looks so velvety. It's turns a bit brownish when applied to lids, but it's still a gorgeous eye shadow.

Fyrinnae Order: Swatches

Sain tehtyä Fyrinnaelle tilauksen 23.10. ja se saapui tänään. Odottelin pakettia lähempänä joulukuuta, joten yllätys oli todella iloinen. :)
I managed to place an order with Fyrinnae 23th October and it arrived this morning. I was expecting it much later so I was really happily surprised. 

I love the paper that they use for packing. <3

Suurin syy tilaukselleni oli Halloween 2011-kokolmassa julkaistu 'Purgatory'-sävy (nämä sävyt jäävät valikoimaan). Olen etsinyt metallista, hieman tummempaa punaista jo jonkun aikaa ja swatchien perusteella tilasin tästä täysikokoisen. En malta odottaa, että huomenna pääsen vihdoin kokeilmaan tätä luomelle. :)

My biggest reason for this order was shade called 'Purgatory', which was released as part of Halloween 2011 collection (although these shades will be permanent). I've been looking for a metallic, darkened red and after seeing swatches I decided to order it full sized. I cannot wait 'till tomorrow. :)

Purgatoryn lisäksi Dressed to Kill on ihan mielettömän pigmenttinen ja aina upean värinen, mutta pidän näistä kaikista todella paljon swatchaamisen perusteella. Calavera Cupcakes oli ilmaissample ja vaikuttaa todella kauniilta. Enemmän kokemuksia, kun pääsen testailemaan sävyjä. 

My favorites based on swatches are Purgatory and Dressed to Kill, but these all look so beautiful! I got Calavera Cupcakes as a free sample and it looks really pretty. I'll write more when I've got more time to experiment.

Atelieri O. Haapala: Corset photoshoot

Tässä pari kuvaa syyskuussa olleista kuvauksista. Olin meikkaamassa malleja ja auttamassa kuvauksissa. (Toivottavasti kukaan ei ahdistu kauniista naisista alusvaatteissa...)

Lopputulos on mielestäni aivan hurmaava. Kuvien värimaailma ja tunnelma on ihanan sensuelli ja vanhanaikainen. Olen myös meikkeihin todella tyytyväinen.  

I think the result is really charming. The overall atmosphere is wonderfully sensual and old-fashioned. And I'm really pleased how the make up looks like in the photos. 

Yves Rocher: Intense Eye Pencils

En ole vuosiin omistanut yhtään tuotetta Yves Rocherilta, mutta löysin nämä kaksi kynää alennuksesta Turun liikkeestä, joka lopetti toimintansa viikko sitten. En ole koskaan ollut meikkikynien ystävä, mutta koska ihastuin näiden väriin ja hintaa jäi vain 2,45€/kynä, ajattelin kokeilla.
I haven't bought anything from Yves Rocher in years. But they closed their shop in my home town and everything was -50% so I decided to buy these two pencils.  

Yves Rocher: Intense Eye Pencil 'Vert Marine' & 'Or Soleil'

Nämä ovat jumbokyniä ja noin 10cm pitkiä. Kynät ovat pigmenttisiä ja levittyvät helposti. Näiden sanotaan myös olevan pitkäkestoisia ja itse voin yhtyä tähän. Olen käyttänyt näitä luomivärin pohjustajana ja ne toimivat todella hyvin. (Tosin käytän niiden alla vielä varsinaista pohjustajaa.) Näin käytettynä väri pysyy luomilla koko päivän intensiivisenä. Erittäin hyvä ostos siis hintaansa nähden. Olisi kiva päästä vertaamaan näitä Urban Decay:n 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencileihin.

These are jumbo eye pencils and about 4 inches long. They're pigmented and smooth to apply. They claim to have ultra-lasting wear (8h) and I must agree. I've used these as eye shadow base and they work really well. (But I do use another primer under these.) This way they stay on the lids whole day. Very nice find. It'd be interesting to compare these to Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencils.

Sitten pari meikkiä, joissa olen käyttänyt kyniä. Pigmentit/jauheluomivärit tarttuvat todella kivasti kynän pintaan.

Couple of looks where I've used the pencils. These work wonderfully as a base for pigments/loose eye shadows.

Blogissa on ollut hieman hiljaisempaa viime aikoina. Syynä on se, että olin toisena meikkaajana pienessä muotinäytöksessä. Todella kiva kokemus ja toivottavasti pääsen kokeilemaan joskus toistekin. Kuvia en ehtinyt juuri ottaa, mutta toivottavasti itse näytöksestä tulee hyviä kuvia.

My blog's been a bit quiet lately. The reason is that I was helping with a small fashion show (I did make up). It was a really nice experience and I hope I'll get to do it again. I was too busy to take photos, but I hope there'll be good pics from the show. 

Review: Mehron Celebré Pro-HD Foundation

Nyt tulee vihdoin lupaamani kirjoitus Mehronin Celebré Pro-HD-meikkivoiteesta. Lyhykäisyydessään hieman itse sarjasta: Mehron on vuodesta 1927 asti toiminut Usalainen merkki, joka suunnattu ammattilaisille (meikkaajille sekä maskeeraajille). Itselleni merkki ei ollut tuotteiden puolesta tuttu, mutta luin paljon hyvää tästä meikkivoiteesta ja päätin kokeilla. Etsin varmaan ikuisesti "sitä oikeaa" meikkivoidetta ja halusin antaa tälle mahdollisuuden.
Finally, here' s the post about Mehron Celebré Pro-HD foundation. Briefly about Mehron: it was founded 1927 in USA. It's marketed to professionals (theatre, TV, etc.). I wasn't that familiar with this brand until I read rave reviews of the new HD foundation and decided to give it a try. I'm always looking for the perfect foundation and this sounded like something I would like.

Tilasin omani CameraReadyCosmetics -nettikaupasta. Täysikokoinen meikkivoide kustantaa $9.95 (n.7,20€) ja sample oli $3.99 (n.2,85€). Tuossa täysikokoisessa napissa on 25g tavaraa, joten rahoilleen saa todellakin vastinetta. (Esim. Ben Nyen vastaavanlainen meikkivoide on vain 14,5g.) 

I ordered mine from CameraReadyCosmetics webstore. Full sized foundation costs $9.95 and weights .9 oz and sample was $3.99. For comparison: Ben Nye Matte foundation only weights .5 oz. 

Kuten kuvasta näkyy, tuo sample on *todella* pieni. Eli jos olisin ollut fiksu, olisin tilannut kummatkin ihan täysikokoisena. Hintaero on niin olematon. 

As you can see from the picture the sample is *really* small. I should've ordered both full sized. There's not that much difference in the price. Liv and learn...

Sitten vähän ajatuksia itse meikkivoiteesta. Kirjoittelin jo aiemmin, että tähän mennessä minun iholleni ei ole sopinut yksikään tällainen nappimuodossa oleva meikkivoide (kokeiltuna: Joe Blasco, Ben Nye, Kryolan, Grimas ja Make-up Studio). Ne eivät vaan levity nätisti iholle, eivätkä pysy hyvin. Ihan sama millä tavalla ne levittää. Tämä on paras tähän menessä kokeilemistani, mutta ei se silti vedä vertoja nestemäisille meikkivoiteille. Monien kokeilujen jälkeen olen todennut, että Every Day Mineralsin Flat Top Kabuki on paras väline ja Kryolanin Anti-Shine puuteri paras viimeistelyyn. En ole silti pahoillani, että tilasin tämän ja myös ihoni tuntuu pitävän tästä. Ainoastaan sävy ei mennyt ehkä ihan nappiin, koska LT2 on jopa hieman liian vaalea itselleni. LT3 olisi varmasti parempi. Eurasia Ivory taas on täydellinen kalpea väri käytettäväksi esim. Halloweenina, goottibileissä jne. Se on vaaleampi ja neutraalimpi kuin Grimasin G0.

Some thoughts about this product. As I've written before I haven't got much luck with creme foundations (so far I've tried Joe Blasco, Ben Nye, Kryolan, Grimas and Make-Up Studio). They don't apply nicely and evenly on my skin, no matter what I use to apply them. Mehron is the best one so far, although liquid foundation work the best for my skin. But I'm not sorry that I ordered this and for some reason my skin seems to like this. After trial and error I've found out that Every Day Minerals' Flat Top Kabuki is the best brush for me and Kryolan's Anti-Shine Powder for the setting. The shade I chose, LT2, was a bit too light(!) for my skin. I think LT3 would've been a better choice. Eurasia Ivory is perfect for Halloween, goth clubs etc. 

Pros & Cons:

+ pigmenttinen / very pigmented

+ helposti levittyvä koostumus / smooth application

+ todella hyvä sävyvalikoima (löytyy värejä myös meille haamuille) / very nice shade selection (even got shades for us ghosts)

+ edullinen hinta ja suuri koko / very affordable and lot of product

+ simppeli ja siisti pakkaus / simple and stylish packaging

- ei levity aina siististi / needs a bit of work to apply evenly

- saattaa korostaa kuivia kohtia ja upota ihohuokosiin / may emphasize dry spots and sink into pores
